Dark places by Gillian Flynn is great mystery Novel.I really enjoyed this novel and have enjoyed all of Gillian Flynn's books.
This is a dark twisted tale with despicable characters, a dark and sometimes harrowing but well developed plot which some readers may find just too uncomfortable to read. This is not a happy story or a feel good book. On the other hand if you like a little of the above then Dark Places will keep you turning the pages and have you sit up reading long into the night.
What a imagination Gillian Flynn must have to come up with the stories and these characters in her novels and when reading I am thinking this could not possible happen in town or locality. But then I have to be honest and say yes it probably could and if I picked up a newspaper or tuned into the news and heard this story I would be shocked but not surprised. While I may feel safe in my home and neighbourhood I have become more aware that there are despicable characters and happenings in all areas these days. So her stories and plots are quite believable in today's society.
I find Flynn's writing very fresh and she has a wonderful way of telling a story. Just when you think you know what is going on she will pull you in another direction and have you second guessing yourself.
The story is written from 3 characters perspectives and by including these three perspectives I thought Flynn was able to give a very comprehensive view of the events before and after the murder. At no stage does these character's stories become confusing which is a credit to Flynn's writing.
A great read and have enjoyed all her other books. I have friends who will love this book and I have friends who will hate it. So therefore thread carefully readers! I look forward to Gillian Flynn's next novel.
