The Gathering

The Gathering - Anne Enright
The gathering was the winner of the Man Booker prize in 2007 and I was really looking forward to reading it as it was about a large Irish family coming to terms with the suicide of one of the family members and the blurb had the making of an excellenct story, however I found the book confusing as it seems to switch back and forth in time a little much and found the whole book depressing and a little weird to be honest. It is a short book and I was thankful for that as read it very quickly and happy to move on to my next read and hoping it will be a little more uplifting.
